Tree falls on car, power pole; causes power outage in Greensboro

GREENSBORO, N.C. — A fallen tree on Jefferson Road has damaged a car and left 197 customers without power near the intersection of Westridge Road and West Friendly Avenue.

The tree took out a power pole in addition to falling on a vehicle in the roadway Tuesday evening. It is unclear why the tree fell.

The outage is affecting traffic signals in the area.

At least one person was in the car when the tree fell. No serious injuries were reported.

Duke Energy estimates that power will be restored no later than 2:30 a.m. Wednesday.
