DAVIDSON COUNTY, N.C. — Davidson County Commissioner Billy Joe Kepley died suddenly at his home in the Welcome community on Saturday, according to Davidson Funeral Home. He was 78.

Kepley served on the North Carolina Department of Transportation Advisory Committee, the Piedmont Triad Rural Planning Organization, the High Point Metropolitan Planning Organization and the Rural Transportation Advisory Committee.

Kepley was serving his sixth non-consecutive term as County Commissioner, and his current term would have expired in December, according to Davidson County.

He and his wife Kathy had been married for 41 years and had four children. They attended United Methodist Church.
