Truck crash spills thousands of chickens across highway in Stanly Co.

STANLY COUNTY, N.C. — A highway in Stanly County was shut down early Friday morning after a truck carrying thousands of chickens overturned.

Police said the driver of the chicken truck lost control and crashed on Highway 205 near Buster Road, just outside Oakboro around 3:15 a.m.

The driver was not hurt but more than 3,300 live chickens in cages were spilled across the roadway.

Crews were working to clean up the accident scene.
