Winston-Salem parents accused of abusing 10-month-old child

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — A mother and father from Winston-Salem are facing abuse charges after they brought their 10-month-old child to the hospital for bone fractures and bruising.

Police responded to Wake Forest Medical Center in October 2013 to reports of a child with multiple injuries.

After a lengthy investigation, police charged the child’s parents Angelo Demitrice Ford and Candice Monique Johnson with felony child abuse inflicting serious bodily injury and two counts of felony child abuse inflicting physical bodily injury.

Ford, 43, was given a $100,000 bond and Johnson, 24, was given a $75,000 bond. Their court dates are pending.

The child was placed with a family member.

    This happened last Oct. and they are just charging them and the child was left with this couple from Oct 2013 till now? Something is wrong with our system of protection for children.
