Kannapolis man accused of sexually assaulting child for six years in Winston-Salem
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — A Kannapolis man is facing several charges after officers said he repeatedly sexually assaulted a child over the course of six years at various places in Winston-Salem.
Police received a report of a sexual offense in 2013 that stated Eliazar Juan Mendoza, 37, sexually assaulted a child from 2005-2011.
The victim was 9-years-old when the abuse started, which took place at various addresses in Winston-Salem, according to police.
Mendoza was arrested on June 2 and charged with five counts of first degree rape, seven counts of indecent liberties with a minor, two counts of first degree sex offense, two counts of statutory rape/sex offense and two counts of felony child abuse.
He was placed in the Cabarrus County Detention facility under a $750,000 bond. He is awaiting extradition to Forsyth County.
