YADKIN COUNTY, N.C. — A couple in Boonville are facing animal cruelty charges after a neglected horse in their care had to be euthanized.

Deputies responded to the home Donald Johnson, 60, and Sandra Johnson, 62, in May on reports of animal neglect.

The couple was advised to make changes specific to the care and maintenance of their horses.
