ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. — A 20-year-old Florida man was arrested after he pulled over an unmarked car driven by a detective, according to deputies.

Matthew Michael Lee McMahon was charged on Tuesday with unlawfully displaying blue lights and impersonating a law enforcement officer, according to The Florida Times-Union.

According to the report, the detective legally passed an older-model Ford Crown on Monday evening when he saw blue and red lights activated inside the car.

A spokeswoman told the paper the detective pulled over to the shoulder and the suspect’s vehicle pulled behind the detective’s vehicle before driving away.

The detective then turned on his blue lights and pulled over the suspect.

McMahon was arrested and charged with impersonating an officer.
