KERNERSVILLE, N.C. – Thousands of people gathered in Triad Park for the Carolina Field of Honor dedication ceremony Saturday.
Created by veterans for veterans, it took years to bring the idea to life.
Now, tributes to each branch of the military sit on the 8-acre plot of land, and the names of thousands of service men and women are memorialized on bricks.
Governor Pat McCrory, other state and local elected officials, as well as high ranking military dignitaries attended the event officially opening the memorial to the public.
Field of Honor officials say the memorial is intended to be a place of remembrance and honor for all who have served our country.
