CAROLINA BEACH, N.C. — The search for a swimmer who disappeared in the surf off Carolina Beach has now turned into a search and recovery mission, according to WECT.
Authorities said lifeguards swam out to Terrance Miller around 5:30 p.m. Saturday, but couldn’t find him. Miller is described as in his early-20s and from the Wilmington area.
Boats and helicopters are continuing the search. Search efforts including approximately 20 lifeguards, three rescue boats, and a helicopter began Saturday night.
Officials planned extra beach patrols around Carolina Beach to try and find the missing man.
