Friends, family honor Kelli Bordeaux at funeral in Florida hometown
SAINT CLOUD, Fla. — Friends and family remembered slain soldier Kelli Bordeaux during a funeral Saturday at Cornerstone Church in her hometown of Saint Cloud, Florida.
WTVD-TV reported that friends of the family offered words of comfort.
Two weeks ago, her accused killer took authorities to her body, nearly two years after she “vanished” from a Fayetteville bar.
Earlier this week, the Fort Bragg soldier’s unit honored her at a memorial service on post.
Nicholas Holbert, a convicted sex offender, is charged in her death; facing charges of first-degree murder and first-degree kidnapping.
According to arrest warrants in the case, Bordeaux and Holbert arrived together at the now-closed Froggy Bottoms bar on Ramsey Street, April 13, 2012, and were there for several hours.
The warrants state that the pair got into an argument in the parking lot and Holbert hit Bordeaux, knocking her unconscious.
He then allegedly put her in his car and drove to his camp site behind the bar. Once there, he hit her several more times in the head until she was dead.
