NEW YORK -- A freak accident involving a saw blade that injured a woman in New York City Tuesday was caught on tape.
The accident happened when a saw blade went flying into a woman walking past a construction site at 9th Avenue and 48th Street.
The video shows the woman drop to the pavement after being struck.
Construction crews were using the heavy machinery to cut asphalt when the three-foot-wide blade came loose.
The blade went flying 100 feet in the air, bounced off a tree and hit the 43-year-old woman in the leg.
The woman was taken to the hospital and is reported to be in stable condition.
The incident is being investigated and the contractor has been directed to stop using saws until equipment is inspected and confirmed to be in proper working condition.
