Triad woman avoids rare cancer with radical preventive surgery

As advanced as medical science is becoming, there are still some things at which it can only make strong, educated guesses.

For example, we can now do sophisticated genetic tests that show a good chance that someone will develop a type of cancer, but without that test, doctors often can't catch the cancer early enough to treat it effectively.

FOX8's Bob Buckley met a woman here in the Piedmont, Rebecca Morris, who worked with Dr. Andrew Berchuck of Duke Medicine to do something drastic about her case that appears to have made her the first person in the world to do it.
