NC church leader arrested for sex crimes against child

GASTONIA, N.C. — A church leader in Gaston County is accused of multiple sex crimes involving a child.

The Gaston Gazette reported that Joseph Robert Hall, 62, of Gastonia, was booked into Gaston County Jail on Wednesday.

The alleged incidents took place between 1994 and 1998 in Brunswick County, beginning when the victim was 12, according to authorities. Specific details on the allegations were not released.

Hall faces various charges including first degree rape of a child, first degree sexual offense of a child, second degree rape and others.

The suspect currently serves as a men’s ministry leader at Restoring Hope Foursquare Church in Dallas, N.C.

Hall was placed in the Gaston County Detention Facility under a $1 million bond and is awaiting transportation to Brunswick County.
