Burlington woman in critical condition after being struck by car

BURLINGTON, N.C. — A woman is in critical condition after being struck by a car in Burlington Wednesday night.

According to the News & Record, Marcella Logsdon Riley, 60, was walking in the 2900 block of Saconn Drive about 9 p.m. when she was struck by a Nissan Altima.

The driver, Anthony Jerome Williams, 24, of Burlington, was traveling east and didn’t see Riley until he hit her, police reported.

Riley was taken to Alamance Regional Medical Center, then airlifted to UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill, where she is in critical but stable condition.

The accident is under investigation.
