Police officers push Vietnam veteran on broken down scooter all the way back to his house

SAN DIEGO — Two officers with the San Diego Police Department went above and beyond the call of duty for a veteran who relies on a motorized scooter over the Memorial Day weekend.

Officers Eric Cooper and Milo Shields were on patrol on May 25 when they spotted a man on a scooter which had broken down.

The officers contacted the man, a 67-year-old Vietnam veteran, and determined that the scooter was having battery issues and was completely inoperative.

As opposed to leaving the scooter behind and simply driving the man home, Cooper and Shields decided to push him home in his scooter on which he depends. Officers pushed the man and his scooter roughly a mile back to his home.

The man said he was extremely grateful for the officers’ kind act.
