Dispatcher Meets Child She Helped DeliverBOUNTIFUL, Utah (KSTU) — A Bountiful 911 dispatcher helped deliver a baby over the phone when the family wasn’t able to make it to a hospital in time.

On May 17, Communication Officer Woodall took a call from a family on I-15 southbound deal the I-215 split. They stopped because the baby’s birth was imminent, according to the Bountiful Police Department.

Woodall was able to talk the family through the birth, wrapping the baby in a shirt and tying off the umbilical cord. The South Davis Metro Fire arrived and transported the mother and baby to the hospital.

The baby girl weighed in at 6 pounds 19 ounces and measured 19 inches long. The family brought the newborn by the police station to meet Woodall and to express their gratitude, according to the Bountiful City Police Department.

Woodall has been with the police department for five years.
