Woman, dog escape from burning Fayetteville home

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — A woman and her dog nearly escaped their burning home in Fayetteville Monday morning.

The woman and her pet were forced from the burning home around 3 a.m.

When firefighters arrived at the home on Sunset Avenue, heavy smoke and flames could be seen shooting from the attic.

The woman and her dog were already out of the house thanks to a neighbor who alerted them to the danger.

They were were not injured.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
