Memorial Day parade, ceremony to be held in Thomasville

THOMASVILLE, N.C. -- The annual Memorial Day wreath laying ceremony and parade will be held in Thomasville today.

The wreath laying ceremony will be held at the N.C. Vietnam Veterans Memorial Park Monday  morning.

The parade begins at 11 a.m.

The parade will start at the “Big Chair” and end at Cushwa Stadium.

Governor Pat McCrory, who is serving as grand marshal, will be speaking at the ceremony following the parade.

A parachute jump by special forces will take place at the stadium at 1 p.m.

Another addition to the ceremony will be the inclusion of the Wounded Warriors, a group that serves Veterans wounded during service. A softball game will be held 3:30 p.m. Monday at Finch Field to benefit the group.
