WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- Goodwill Industries of Northwest North Carolina is helping teens and young adults find the employers that could help them land a summer job.
A job fair for 16 to 21 year olds is being held at the Goodwill Center at 2701 University Parkway in Winston-Salem Thursday from 2 until 6 p.m.
It's the fourth year the group has brought employers with immediate openings together with those in need of summer employment.
"We've gotten great feedback from the community," said Lakisha Jordan, with Goodwill. "Lots of employers want to have the opportunity for people to come to them who are prepared, who are dressed professionally, who are able to speak and interview well."
Jordan said the job fair can help young people of working age eliminate competition.
"It's a lot of competition because we have a lot of adults who are out of work," said Jordan.
The job fair will include employers like Bojangles, Food Lion, Wendy's, TJ Maxx, Lowes Foods, Chick-fil-a, The Resource and Aeropostale.
There will also be colleges like Forsyth Tech, Winston Salem State University, Salem College, Bennett College and Mount Eagle College to answer questions. Jordan said Bennett College can evaluate high school transcripts to see if college is possible.
Military recruiters will also be on hand. Jordan said that's because of several questions Goodwill received from teens about the military.
