NC wrestling coach charged with giving alcohol to minors

LENOIR, N.C. — A school employee has been arrested and charged after police say he provided alcohol to minors.

Joshua Dale Woodruff, of Lenoir, is charged with three counts of giving a malt beverage/unfortified wine to a person less than 21 years old.

Woodruff is listed as the head coach for the Hibriten High School wrestling team. He is also listed as a member of the school’s administrative team as the student concerns specialist.

According to WSOC, police received a tip from members in the Lenoir community and an investigation was conducted.

The investigations led officers to Woodruff and discovered that he allegedly had provided alcohol to students between Oct. 18 and Nov. 9, 2013, at his home.

Woodruff is at the Caldwell County Detention Center under a $6,000 secured bond.
