ANACORTES, Wash. — A multimillion-dollar yacht capsized overnight in Washington, dumping six people in the water.
All were rescued have been rescued.
According to KOMO, the 90-foot yacht flipped while be launched Sunday evening.
There were reports that crews had to use axes to reach people near the engine compartment.
Two of the rescued people were taken to the hospital to be checked out.
Wade Benda, the yacht’s mechanic, told KOMO that he thinks the boat’s starboard stabilizer hit some rocks when it initially rolled near the boat ramp.
He said they tried to “thrust” the boat back into deeper water, but the yacht tipped over anyway.
An investigation as to why the yacht sank is pending.
