KING, N.C. -- While NASCAR is getting ready for the big race -- the Coca-Cola 600 in Charlotte this Sunday -- the town of King is feeling pretty good about the big races that are happening there.
In fact, it's happening at a track modeled after the Charlotte Motor Speedway. The King Super Speedway opened in 1990 as an RC car track and was instantly popular. However, over the years, the track fell out of favor and was abandoned.
Now, thanks to some of Roy's Folks, racing has returned to King. Roy Ackland reports.

I used to race at Sandhills Raceway (capret banked oval) about 15 years ago. I had fun but dear Lord you can sink a lot of $$$ into it for nothing in return.
