Fort Bragg soldier accused of raping woman after date
SANFORD, N.C. — A Fort Bragg soldier was arrested after deputies say he raped a woman he went on a date with.
Corry Paul Brooks,34, was with a woman at his home on Oak Leaf Road in Sanford after their date and officers say he became enraged when she refused his advances, according to WTVD.
The woman ran to a bathroom and called 911 on her cell phone, but Brooks allegedly took the phone and forced the woman into his car.
She said she was able to jump out of the vehicle at one point, but was forced back inside.
The victim said Brooks then drove her to a dead-end road in Hoke County and raped her. He then took the woman home.
She was treated at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center for a broken arm and other injuries.
Brooks is charged with first-degree rape, first-degree kidnapping, felony assault by strangulation, felony assault by inflicting serious bodily injury and interfering with 911 communications.
His bond was set at $350,000.
SFC Brooks is assigned to the 737th Ordnance Company, according to the U.S. Army.
