GREENSBORO, N.C. -- A school bus was involved in an accident with several vehicles on Wendover Avenue in Greensboro Wednesday morning.

Officials say no students were on board the bus at the time of the accident.

A school bus was traveling on West Wendover Avenue toward Greensboro when it veered right. The bus then struck three cars waiting at a stop light at the exit ramp of I-73.

The bus and van went through a metal fence down an embankment to a side street and it was reported that the van burst into fire.

Highway Patrol said the driver of the bus choked on a piece of candy and blacked out prior to the crash. He was not seriously injured.

No charges will be filed.
