Baby found unattended in hotel room on Mother’s day, mom intoxicated
MISSOURI — A baby was found crying for over an hour in a Caseyville hotel room on Mother’s Day.
The mother, Jennifer Hawes, 35, was later located. Police say she was intoxicated. Hawes is now being held in the St. Clair County Jail.
Caseyville police found the unattended 10-month-old baby in a hotel room at the Old Country Inn around 1:30 a.m. on Sunday.
The baby was taken into protective custody and the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) was contacted to intervene.
Investigators say that the child was found unharmed.
Hawes was found in an “intoxicated state,” according to reports. Police have not said where exactly the mother was located.
She was arrested and charged with endangering the life and health of a child.
