Lanes on I-40/I-85 in Greensboro to close next week for sign installation

GUILFORD COUNTY, N.C. —The N.C. Department of Transportation plans to install ground-mounted signs along I-40/I-85 in Guilford County next week, weather permitting.

One lane of I-85 North between Exit 129 (Youngs Mill Road) and Exit 132 (Mt. Hope Church Road) will be closed from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. on Monday, May 12, to accommodate the sign installation.

From 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. on Tuesday, May 13, crews plan to close one lane of I-40 East/I-85 North from Exit 226 (McConnell Road) to Exit 132 (Mt. Hope Church Road).

During that time, crews plan to also close one lane of I-40 East/I-85 North between Exit 21 (I-40 West/I-85 South) on I-840 East and Exit 132 (Mt. Hope Church Road) on I-40 East/I-85 North.

Officials are asking motorists to stay alert, obey the posted speed limit and allow additional time to reach their destination.
