Man gets ticketed for violating 75-minute parking sign he was installing

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. — A man putting up a 75-minute parking limit sign was ticketed for violating the limit while he was installing the sign.

According to KEYT, Dan Greding was working as a contract employee for the city in February to put up signs about the 75-minute parking limit. While he was installing the signs, a city parking enforcement officer pulled up his truck and started ticketing it.

“I didn’t know what to say. I was dumbfounded,” Greding told KEYT. “I said ‘but I ‘m putting these signs up’ and he (the officer) says, ‘then you should know you can’t park here more than 75 minutes.’ I said, ‘well I haven’t put the sign up yet, so you can’t write me a ticket’ and he said ‘yea but the signs down there say – this block – so you’re in violation.”

Greding lost his first appeal on the $48 ticket. He’s not fighting it with an administrative review panel who is expected to decide the case later this month.

There are very few people with common sense or intelligience anymore. Just another example, and I am talking about the police officer.

And now he has to appeal this ticket. I agree with jj, no common sense on the part of the court system or the police officer.

It goes to show that people these days have no common sense anymore, it’s by the book or be slammed. Common decency went out the window years ago, what is this world coming to?

He should have worked overtime to go back and take all the signs down. Then come back the next day and replace them all. He could have got paid overtime to fight their own ticket.

I would make it my personal mission to camp out that area and find a city vehicle parked there for more than 75min….and u know there will be

The officer should be written up for not using any common sense. I used to be a police officer and I would have never given that guy a ticket.

Parking enforcement officer is not a police officer but a civilian. Probably why he didn’t know the difference.
