DAVIDSON COUNTY, N.C. — Authorities are warning citizens to be wary of a man posing as a lieutenant in Davidson County.

On May 5, officers received numerous complaints of a man calling citizens and claiming to be Lt. G. Wood with the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office Warrants Division.

Citizens tell authorities that the “lieutenant” states he has a warrant for their arrest, which can be taken care of by obtaining a pre-paid credit card and then calling the man back with the card number.

Several people have come forward after receiving similar calls and detectives with the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office want to warn citizens of this scam.

Detectives say they never call people to solicit any money or payments from people who may have warrants.

If anyone receives calls of this nature, they are asked to contact the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office at 336-242-2105.
