THOMASVILLE, N.C. — Police say alcohol was a contributing factor in the fatal crash that killed a 19-year-old in Thomasville last month.

Aaron Scott Bean of Lake Road died in a crash on Baptist Children’s Home Road around 8:49 p.m. April 7.

According to the Lexington Dispatch, the  investigation showed Bean’s 1996 Honda Civic traveled off the roadway to the right, did a 180-degree spin and struck a utility pole.

Police said the impact with the utility pole launched the Honda airborne, causing the vehicle to roll from side to side.

The Honda hit the ground a second time, continued to roll and landed on its roof.

Bean was wearing his seat belt, police say, but the second impact destroyed it and Bean was ejected from the car.

Police determined speed or distraction devices were not contributing circumstances of the crash.

Why would you guys feel the need to go back and post this? It happened a month to the day ago, the family and friends are still mourning, all fox 8 cares about is views & who posts a story first.. Smh

Good job. I’m glad you guys find it completely appropriate to post about this exactly one month after the incident to drudge this up for family and friends. Low. Even low for fox.

i agree this should be kept privately. Alot of wrecks are posted on here before the families ar notified. Very heartless

No one is forcing ANYONE to sit here and read this public afforded information. On the other hand, if this article can somehow at least plant the marginal idea which keeps someone from drinking and driving, especially underage, then let that fact honor the deceased in someway.

Everyone should know alcohol and drugs kill. There are so many kids in school whonthink it’s keel. We’ll, it’s not. Stop blaming the news for this awful mistake. Use this to change your ways and stop driving high. All the ones who post against this are just mad because the truth. The truth will set you free. Horrible accident but hopefully this will encourage other school kids to stop there partying and straighten up.

And we all know how the news loves to report “specifics” that aren’t verified. Fox News is particularly bad at posting speculated stories to later find out their story had no real findings, completely twisted and or with added information. Maybe he had a drink, maybe he didn’t. I do know my daughter spoke to him earlier that day and he had not been off work long before the crash. He didn’t have allot of time to get drunk if what I know is true. He went to his cousins house briefly then was on his way home when he wrecked. If alcohol was a contributing factor what were the results? What amount specifically contributed to the crash and exactly how was it determined? Autopsy? BAC taken by blood at the scene or hospital? There’s ALLOT that goes into a BAC result and it’s not always beer and or liquor. It would be nice if Fox updates a story they’d do it with some detail in which how they got their information.

I know one of the family members of this person, personally. My deepest sympathies to go out the family for their loss. However, while everyone is entitled to their opinions about what should be posted, I am sure that the journalists of the article were in contact with the family before publishing yet another post. While the article only mentions alcohol use without writing evidence supporting the theory, drinking and driving should never be an option, this heart-breaking story emphasizes how dangerous it can be, and how quickly a young life could be taken away so quickly, from anyone. So instead of bashing a news post, think about the persons family and lift them up in thoughts and prayers as they go through this difficult time and be blessed that, you, the reader have another reminder and another chance to say “I love you” to your beloved today.
