Danny Rogers to run against BJ Barnes for Guilford Co. sheriff

GUILFORD COUNTY, N.C. — Danny Rogers will run against Guilford County Sheriff B.J. Barnes in the Nov. 4 General Election.

With 163 of 165 precincts reporting, Rogers has a sizable lead over his two Democratic opponents with 59.46 percent of the vote.

Phil Wadsworth and James L. Zimmerman were also running for the Democratic nomination.

    Rogers has never run for office. He joined the Guilford County Sheriff’s Office in 1986 as a jail guard. A year later, he became a High Point police officer but was fired in 1993 after a series of incidents that included accusations that he left his assigned patrol area and punched a suspect he was trying to restrain.

    This is the best they have.
