PORTLAND, Ore. (KPTV) — A naked man doing push-ups in the middle of a North Portland street was struck and killed by a car early Sunday morning.

North Precinct officers first responded to the report of a naked man running in traffic near North Columbia Boulevard and Portsmouth Avenue at 4:04 a.m.

While they were en route, police received a second report that the naked man was doing push-ups in the road. Then, they received a third report: he had been struck by a car.

Officers and medical personnel arrived and found the man dead.

The driver who struck the man remained at the scene and was cooperative. The driver was not impaired by alcohol or drugs.

The major crash team responded and investigators learned the driver struck the pedestrian in the roadway while traveling westbound on Columbia Boulevard.

The roadway was closed for several hours during the investigation, but reopened later Sunday.

The Oregon State Medical Examiner will conduct an autopsy, including toxicology, to determine the pedestrian’s cause of death.

The name of the naked man has not been released.

They’re doing a toxicology report “…to determine the pedestrian’s cause of death”? I think the cause of death is obvious. Stupid is as stupid does.

They are probably doing it to see if why he was running around naked doing push ups which led to his death by being hit

i feel bad for the person who hit him…. that would be a horrifying experience!!!

    • C-lo

Agreed, for sure. That’s something this person will have to live with for the rest of his/her life. It might sound bad, but I almost pity the person who hit the man more than the victim himself.

My heart and prayers go out to the man family and friends . I feel sorry for all of you who judge . There are health problems that could have caused this and him not have any control over what he was doing . Get educated first and read the bible , god says though shall not judge .

Being a little contradictory there aren’t you? Silently judging from your corner while telling others to not do just that…Could just be me thinking in the manner of reality, but God had nothing to do with this…Supposedly everything happens for a reason…But if the guy who died deserved to die then why punish the driver with a lifetime’s worth of possible guilt and despair….

We cant sit here and say that this man is stupid.. People out there do have mental issues.. They was born with it. Dont judge the man just cause he done that. All we can do is pray for him and hope that he is in a better place

its very sad how people nowadays go for the humor in such a sad and horrifying incident…What happened to being sensitive to his family, and showing a little heart.

I’ve got to say it…….. He took it to seriously when they said “Hit the road Jack” Sorry-too soon.

    • TR

Hilarious…Anita…Hope it was worth looking like a completely insensitive and horrible person.. Really hope its worth it to you to think of a 2 second failed joke and poke fun at a bad situation for anyone involved.

  • its my business

I love how they end it with – – pedestrian’s cause of death? While I feel horrible for this person’s death, equally I feel sorry for the pain he must have endured which brought him to be naked and doing push ups in the middle of the road. Honestly, while I am traveling down the street at night – – I am looking for a lot of things – -just not a naked man doing push ups in the road. I feel sorry for how the driver is feeling. I couldn’t imagine how he must feel.

If you cannot see a bright pink-fleshy body in the middle of an open road, then should you be driving? This does not mean the guy was acting of sound mind. But it is clear the driver was unwilling to stop for a body in the middle of the road. And that is a crime. Bottom line. It does not matter if thean was on drugs or not, the driver would have seen him and stopped if the driver had been of sound mind.

Use a bit of logic, or “thought”, silly people.

I guess in Jons world, there are no curves in roads, every road is well lit at night and everyone is white
