RALEIGH (WTVD) — A woman is facing charges after officials say she was driving impaired down the highway with her kids in the car.
According to WTVD, Jessica Heaton of Raeford was driving 35 mph on I-40 around 11 p.m. Friday when a NC State Highway Patrol trooper pulled her over because she was “weaving badly onto shoulder and across lines.”
Troopers say she has an “open bottle of vodka under her arm,” and had “very slurred speech.”
Heaton’s blood alcohol level was a reported .33, more than four times the legal limit.
Heaton is facing child abuse charges, because her 3 and 4-year-old children were in the backseat of the car when she was pulled over.
She also faces driving while impaired charges.
Authorities said Monday that Heaton was unable make her first court appearance, because “she’s in the hospital,” but did not reveal the reason.
