Boy makes ‘bucket list’ of things to see before he goes blind

DALLAS, Texas — A 9-year-old boy in Texas is working on a “bucket list” of things he wants to see before he goes blind.

WFAA-TV reported that Ben Pierce is losing his sight because of some scar tissue left from a surgery he needed on his eyes.

Doctors said his eyesight worsens as he grows because the scar tissue does not stretch.

Pierce was born at just 23 weeks, arriving more than four months early. He weighed just 1 pound 6 ounces.

“I just don’t want to be blind,” Ben said as he began to cry during an interview.

Ben’s list includes going to Paris, London and seeing the Northern Lights. He also wants to go to Los Angeles and see the beach.

Recently, Ben crossed one thing off his list after he saw a Van Gogh painting of haystacks at the Dallas Museum of art.

Two donation pages have been set up in Ben’s honor, according to his family’s blog and can be found at and
