Part of Blue Ridge Parkway reopens after repairs
ASHEVILLE, N.C. — A section of the Blue Ridge Parkway that was being repaired is now open to traffic three weeks ahead of schedule.
Superintendent Mark Woods says the section of the parkway from Milepost 376 at Ox Creek Road to Milepost 355 near the entrance to Mt. Mitchell State Park is open.
That stretch of road was closed for stabilization work after a crack developed just north of Tanbark Ridge Tunnel at Milepost 374.
With these repairs complete, all 469 miles of parkway are now open for access.
The Craggy Gardens Picnic Area and Visitor Center at Milepost 364 are scheduled to open next Friday. It had been closed during the repair project.
