Man killed in car accident near Thomasville

DAVIDSON COUNTY, N.C. — State Highway Patrol, Davidson County EMS and the Triangle Fire Department responded to a fatal accident on Old U.S. 29 southwest of Thomasville.

According to State Highway Patrol, the accident occurred around 4:30 p.m. near Paper Moon Drive.

The victim was identified as Andrew Payne, 23, of Linwood.

Payne was headed eastbound on Old U.S. 29 when he drifted into the westbound lane and then went airborne into a ditch where his car struck a tree.

Payne was dead upon the arrival of emergency crews.

Police believe speed was a factor in the accident.

A portion of Old U.S. 29 was closed until around 7 p.m.

    I hate to hear this I’ve knew Andy since 1990 and he was a good person from the inside out he didn’t do drugs or drink for that matter he was just a joy to be around and it really broke my heart when I seen this on the news he will be missed dearly by everyone that knew him my prayers and thoughts are with you guys love yall R.I.P Andy

    Let me get this right I’ve knew Andy since 1991 or 92 but anyway about he was a good person he loved his hobbies family and his soon to be wife Kayla and it is truly heart breaking to hear that he died at such a young age he had his whole life ahead of him R.I.P Andy your truly missed
