AUBURN, Maine — A teenager from Maine on vacation in Tampa, Florida took a selfie with the wrong squirrel.

Seventeen-year-old Brian Genest said he saw what appeared to be a friendly squirrel on a hand rail while walking through John Chestnut Park near Tampa. Genest was in Florida looking at colleges, according to WFTV.

The teen took a selfie with the squirrel, but the flash and noises from the camera scared the animal.

The squirrel climbed under the teen’s shirt and hung onto his back. The result was a photo much better than a selfie.

“He was just in that spot where my arm can’t reach him,” Genest said. “I threw myself on the ground and that scared him off.”

Genest’s mother, Paula Wright, took photos of the entire incident.

“I think he got a little lesson from the squirrel that he’s not really its buddy,” she said.
