CHERRYVILLE, N.C. — A man has been charged with sexually assaulting the child of a family who gave him a place to stay.
Clay Allen Rudisill, 51, was charged with one felony count of first-degree sexual offense of a victim under 13 years old.
According to WSOC, deputies responded to reports of an assault at a home on Springs East Road in Lincolnton on Wednesday.
During an interview with detectives, Rudisill confessed to the crime which involved a 7-year-old female.
Investigators said the family was trying to help the man out by providing a place for him to stay.
He was placed in the Harven A. Crouse Detention Center under a $75,000 secured bond.
