RALEIGH, N.C. — A black bear found dead early Tuesday on campus at North Carolina State University was hit by a car, WTVD is reporting.
A groundskeeper found the bear on bench around 8 a.m. Tuesday outside Bostian Hall. North Carolina Wildlife Resources responded to campus and removed the bear from a bench around 9:15 a.m.
Jeff Cantrell with the Wildlife Resource Commission said preliminary unofficial necropsy results show that the bear was hit by a vehicle.
It is under investigation as to who hit the bear, then placed the 200 to 250 pound animal on a bench near Bostian Hall in the school’s Brickyard area.
