KANSAS — A woman in Kansas is lucky to be alive after a powerful tornado tore through her town, destroying her home and nearly crushing her to death.
Buela Thompson, 82, says she survived by hiding in her bathtub.
On Sunday, a tornado rolled through Baxter Springs, injuring 25 people and destroying more than 100 homes and businesses.
The roof of Thompson’s house caved in, right above where she was taking cover. The woman said she felt like she was going to be sucked out of the bathtub.
She is shaken up, but expected to be OK.
