HIGH POINT, N.C. — A man is in critical condition after a high-speed police chase ended early Monday morning with a vehicle crash in High Point.

According to High Point Police Captain Kirk, the vehicle wrecked around 12:05 a.m. at North Centennial and Barbee Avenue.

The pursuit began when police received a report of four vehicles without tags in the downtown area of High Point.

When police attempted to stop a Nissan Versa, the vehicle sped off, leading officers on a 30 second chase.

The chase ended as Jarquavias Lamar Hamilton, 22, Charlotte, crashed his vehicle. He is in critical condition as of Monday.

The officer was not injured in the wreck.

The Nissan Versa and three additional vehicles were recovered by police.
