Motorcyclist killed in crash in Davidson County

THOMASVILLE, N.C. – Authorities said a motorcyclist died Saturday after crossing the center line and striking a vehicle near Thomasville.

Troopers said the crash happened around 12 p.m. on Kennedy Road. The victim has been identified as David Byerly.

Byerly was headed north on Kennedy Road when he tried to stop for traffic being rerouted for an crash on Highway 109 South, according to Trooper T.J. Norman.

Byerly couldn’t stop, skidded his Harley Davidson and crossed the center line, hitting a 1988 passenger vehicle, according to the paper. Officials said the passengers in that vehicle were not injured.
