84-year-old man fights off home invader in Randolph County
SEAGROVE, N.C. – An 84-year-old former military policeman fought off an armed man at his home near Seagrove on Thursday night.
The Asheboro Courier-Tribune reported that Neil Meisch fought back after the suspect showed up at his home, demanding his car keys.
The paper reported that Meisch’s 83-year-old wife answered the door to find the suspect, Tony Curtis Davis, 49, of Jackson Springs.
“There was a man with the storm door open and a gun in my face,” said Bonnie Meisch, according to the paper. “He ordered me to give him my car keys and I told him, ‘Hell, no,’ he wasn’t getting anything and yelled for Neil.”
Bonnie said she then called for her husband, who came running to help.
“He grabbed the man and took him for a ride off the porch,” she said. “All I could see then was fists.”
Officials said the suspect was arrested after crashing his car on Okeewemee Road in Montgomery County on Thursday night.
The suspect reportedly faces multiple charges, including kidnapping, from at least five law enforcement agencies.
