THOMASVILLE, N.C. – Authorities said more than 60 pounds of marijuana has been seized this week as part of a drug smuggling investigation in Davidson County.
Thomasville police said the investigation resulted in $52,068 in cash being seized, 30 fraudulent U.S Treasury Refund Checks valued at about $55,226 and about 61 pounds of marijuana.
Authorities said the investigation was conducted along Interstate 85 in Davidson County from Monday to Thursday and looked into people involved in bulk cash smuggling and illegal narcotic smuggling.
Officials said all involved violators are facing charges of narcotic violations and fraud violations.
Police said the cases will be presented to the Davidson County District Attorney’s Office for prosecution or referral to the U.S. Attorney’s Office of the Middle District.
