Eden police investigate fire, shooting at same house

EDEN, N.C. – Eden police are investigating a house fire and shooting that were both recently reported at the same home.

Police said they were called to 873 Circle Drive around 3:17 a.m. on Sunday, in reference to a 911 call.

Officials said they found the caller, William Harden Burchell Jr., who said he had been shot and needed medical attention.

Emergency workers took Burchell to Moses Cone Hospital with unlisted injuries, according to authorities.

Around 4 a.m. Thursday, deputies responded to the same home in reference to a house fire.

Several agencies were dispatched to the fire and battled the blaze for several hours, according to police.

Both incidents remain under investigation. Police have not said if the incidents appear to be related. A cause of the fire has not been released.
