DES MOINES, Iowa — A 19-year-old Iowa girl recently found her birth mother by using the power of social media, according to the Des Moines Register.

Hannah Stouffer tweeted a photo of herself on April 13 holding a sign stating her birth date, where she was born and a request for people to share the photo in hopes her birth mother would see it.

Stouffer’s sign said she was born when her mom was 15 years old, and said she just wanted to meet her and thank her for giving her life.

Her mother saw the picture and tried to reach Stouffer, eventually tracking down her phone number, the Register said. Three days after the original post went up, Stouffer received a text message from Nicole Reinier saying she was her mom.

The Register reports that Stouffer had dreamed of meeting her mom since she was 14 years old. On Saturday, April 19, she finally got to at a coffee shop in Johnston, Iowa.

Stouffer said she is happier now than she has ever been.

“I don’t feel that empty feeling anymore. I don’t feel lost anymore,” Stouffer told the Register. “It’s one of the most incredible feelings. I feel more complete than I ever have in my entire life.”
