12-year-old boy accidentally shoots, kills 7-year-old brother

ROCKY MOUNT, Va. — A 12-year-old boy accidentally shot and killed his 7-year-old brother on Monday in Rocky Mount, according to the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office.

The boys were playing at a neighbor’s home on Double Oaks Lane around 11:45 a.m. when the shooting occurred.

WDBJ is reporting that the 12-year-old boy found a handgun and accidentally fired the gun at his brother.

The 7-year-old died immediately.

No charged have been filed.

    This type of thing should never happen. Those who own guns and have children around should be responsible enough to lock them away or at least install a trigger lock.

    It would seem that the people who were “watching” the children must not have had any kids of their own. If so, I would think the gun would not have been so readily available. Shame on them. My payers go up to the family in such an avoidable situation.

    when are you gun people going to learn to lock those stupid things up? How many kids are going to kill themselves or someone else before you get the hint? I don’t care if you have a gun, I care that it seems so many gun owners are too stupid to lock them up and out of kids reach.
