ISLE OF WIGHT, Va. — Authorities said a Virginia woman died after jumping from a moving car driven by her boyfriend and falling off a bridge into shallow water.

PilotOnline.com reported that 25-year-old Amanda Fawne McPhee died Friday night after falling off the Sidney Hazelwood Bridge in Wight County, Virginia.

McPhee was a passenger in a car with her boyfriend when she suddenly jumped from the moving vehicle, according to the Isle of Wight Sheriff’s office.

Investigators said they found skid marks on the bridge, which led them to believe the car came to an emergency stop.

Rescue crews recovered McPhee’s body, which was sent to the medical examiner’s office for an autopsy, according to officials.

Deputies said McPhee had a recent history of a psychological disorder

Authorities said there is no sign of homicidal activity, and no criminal charges are expected.
