TEGA CAY, S.C. — A Charlotte-area man accused of walking around Walmart naked has a previous history of being nude in public, according to WBTV.

Officials said Kevin Hughes, 36, of Fort Mills, S.C., was arrested earlier this week for walking around naked inside a Walmart in Tega City.

Hughes told WSOC that he was embarrassed and “crazy on drugs” when the incident happened Thursday.

Hughes is accused of walking into the business in the middle of the night, wearing nothing but black shoes.

Tega Cay police were called to the store after employees spotted Hughes walking around naked. They escorted the suspect outside and charged him with disorderly conduct.

Hughes told WSOC that the last thing he remembers is going to sleep at his sister’s house and the next thing he knew, he woke up naked in his truck at Walmart. He hopped out and walked into the store.

“I’ve had a problem with drugs in the past. I still like to do Ecstasy once in a while,” Hughes said. “I accidentally got methamphetamine instead and it really made me crazy.”

WBTV reported that Hughes was caught naked running down a street near a campground in Fort Mill in December 2012.

In that incident, Hughes was reported by two female joggers who said he was wearing nothing but shoes.

Deputies said they also went to a home where a woman told them a naked man knocked on her back window, asking for a pair of shorts.

The homeowner said when she grabbed her phone, the naked man ran off.

Deputies told WBTV that when they detained the suspect, he appeared to be high on some form of narcotics.
