RALEIGH, N.C. — Forbes.com recently ranked Raleigh as the number one city in America to raise a family.
Raleigh topped the list, citing factors including quality schools, low crime and a low cost of living compared with residents’ rising level of income.
“Home base of the North Carolina State Wolfpack is one of America’s fastest growing cities of recent years, with an economic base led by banking and finance that’s pushed income levels into the upper third of America’s largest metro areas. Area public schools are generally strong, and crime is low,” the article read.
The article was published earlier this week. Grand Rapids, Mich., Ogden, Utah, and Omaha, Neb. came in at numbers two, three and four, respectively.
Median household income, cost of living index, housing affordability, the percentage of residents who own their homes, average commuting delays, crime rate rankings and local school quality were all taken into account.
The U.S. Census Bureau reported that about two-thirds of people in Raleigh own their homes.
