Judge tells convicted killer ‘I hope you die in prison’
JACKSON, Mich. — A Michigan judge exploded at a convicted killer in court on Wednesday, shouting that he hopes she dies in prison.
Mlive.com reported that 31-year-old Camia Gamet was given a life sentence Wednesday for the murder of her boyfriend Marcel Hill two years ago.
Jackson County Circuit Judge John McBain said it was one of the worst cold-blooded murders he had ever seen.
At the sentencing, members of Hill’s family spoke and Gamet was seen rolling her eyes and snickering. Gamet even interrupted Hill’s aunt and said, “Is that it?”
That set off McBain.
“You’re going to shut your mouth or I’m going to have some duct tape put on it,” he said. “You were relentless. You stabbed. You stabbed. You stabbed. You stabbed. You stabbed until he was dead.”
The judge continued.
“I hope you die in prison. If this was a death penalty state, you’d be getting the chair.”
Gamet’s defense team says she acted in self-defense. She plans to appeal to a higher court.
